Some people teaching poetry writing have no business teaching poetry. The worst of them constantly pat themselves on the back. It’s like they actually have no discernment to judge between good and bad poetry.

Overtly political poetry is bad poetry or sheer propaganda. There’s a difference between literary art and a soapbox screed.

I hate AI. No it is not just another “tool” like spell check. It is a garbage machine in a world already flooded with trash. It’s an assault on what makes us human. In a despairing age where people ache for meaning, it is a labyrinth of new walls to trap weary souls.

Needed to read an unhinged James Purdy novel. Starting this one. A terribly underrated author.

15 Big Ones is an underrated Beach Boys album. Released in 1976, it’s a wonderful blend of oldies covers and new compositions, a sonic predecessor to their next and better-know album, Beach Boys Love You. “It’s OK” is a standout track. The album cover did it no favors.
