Had a gallery walk activity in class today! Students observed various caricatures of Irish people and immigrants from the 1800s. Depictions of the Irish in America is an interesting case study of the racialization of immigrant communities.

Thus ends my Utah research trip for my dissertation! Went up and down Utah visiting various archives and got to spend my day of rest worshiping God at a historic black Baptist church in SLC, Calvary Baptist Church. I needed that. Now onto more writing and prepping for class!

My wife is questioning my life decisions. That is right, I bought Kraft Mac & Cheese flavored ice cream. Living life on the edge over here.

Late post! So thankful for this past October. I participated in a UVA Mormon Studies conference alongside several awesome scholars doing work on Mormonism and race! My students also made my day by sending me birthday wishes and having me wear this for lecture. And wear it I did😂

I would like to make a long overdue post about my appreciation for Baylor’s Department of History. It is filled with excellent people, scholars, and students who go the extra mile to make you feel seen. Thank you for your kindness! I am soaking in my time at Baylor this year.
