Science tells us that portable air filters reduce the risk of transmission of airborne infectious diseases, but buying an air cleaning device that uses filters can be complex. We've got a guide to help you avoid bear traps... cleanairforkids.co.uk/inspiration/an…

And in addition to being cautious about AI, I cannot emphasise strongly enough how important it is to read research papers right through, to understand sources of bias & what the researchers actually said. The myth that children need pathogens is nowhere supported in evidence.

Important point here about the need for multidisciplinary design in research & review. Indoor air quality research is a key example of how science can go wrong when critical domain expertise is not in the room. #IAQ needs engineering + epidemiology + IPC expertise just to start.

Pete 😷 #COVIDisAirborne As I understand, some RCTs ("explanatory") ask how well can an intervention work under ideal circumstances. And some ask how well does the intervention work in usual conditions ("pragmatic"). If it "doesn't work", the authors should be able to suggest why, & improve practice.

This conference in October on IAQ and public health, featuring Lydia moerawska, looks excellent. They need 50 people interested to offer virtual attendance. I’m very keen to attend on-line, anyone else? Let them know! casanz.org.au/trainingevents…

CO2 monitors have become popular tools people can use to estimate their indoor air quality. A new study was recently published that explores how we can use them to optimise occupancy thresholds and identify problem locations. Actual practical science!!! 🧵

🔺The CDC isn’t warning about circulating COVID variants—does that mean we’re out of the woods with COVID? 🔺Are we safe from bird flu now that we don't see any news about it? 🔺How can we protect kids from Long COVID? 🔺How are patients diagnosed with Neuro Long COVID? Join us.

The #LongCOVID #KeystoneSymposia presentations are awesome so far! Major props to the conference organizers for the #COVID precautions: CO2 in the main room is 648, there are air filters, testing protocols, and required KN95/N95 masking! 🙏 😷 #pwLC
