This is terrific journalism and I hope it means more people pick up The Observer on a Sunday. It's massively improved since the Guardian offloaded it.

Amazing, and yet not amazing. BBC News (UK) does not seem to think it news that a the head of a charity, which often dealt with children, be sentenced to 30 yrs for child rape. And yet, the inquest on a drag queen in the same court: news. ripx4nutmeg Graham Linehan 🎗️ grahamlinehan.substack.com/p/nutmegs-week…

Strangulation during sex is now thought to be the second most common cause of stroke in women under 40. This practice is clearly spreading due to the proliferation of violent pornography, yet still women are gaslit and told that porn is "just a fantasy."

🧵 Ever wonder why your GP, BBC and local HR suddenly talk of ‘gender identity’? Not chance. It’s a blueprint. This thread digs into how euphemisms were strategically embedded into everyday British language. 👇

Salt Path scandal: the juiciest literary scams, from James Frey to JT LeRoy thetimes.com/article/330ba8… Just a thought: maybe the Books pages of ⁦The Times and The Sunday Times⁩ etc should focus on ACTUAL fiction in its pages - down to a record low each week - rather than mendacious non-fiction?

This is what I'd like to see less of in British publishing and the media: American best-sellers. We have plenty of good books of our own, thanks. "True life" memoirs that turn out to be fiction, while real fiction is ignored Celebrity children's books.
