15 October 2024: The #AUPSC consulted the Africa Group and the African Members of the UN Security Council (UNSC) in New York ahead of its annual joint consultative meeting with the UNSC. 1/2

The meeting underscored the importance of enhancing cooperation and collaboration between the PSC and the Africa Group in New York to promote the AU peace and security agenda. 2/2

On 15/10/2024, the #AUPSC and the UN Peacebuilding Commission (PBC) convened their 7th Annual Consultative Meeting at the UN Hq in New York, co-chaired by H.E. Amb. Mohamed Omar Gad of #Egypt, PSC Chair in October 2024, and H.E. Sérgio França Danese, Chair of the UN PBC. 1/3

The meeting discussed supporting peacebuilding efforts in Africa, linking these efforts to the implementation of projects to promote peace, and post-conflict reconstruction & development, under the leadership of the President of 🇪🇬, and the AU PCRD Center in Cairo (3/3)

On 16 October 2024, the #AUPSC held its First Ever Public Lecture outside Africa, and second of its kind at Yale University’s Jackson School of Global Affairs, within the context of the celebrations of the PSC 20th Anniversary. 1/2

As part of outreach to popularise the PSC and its work, the Public Lecture sought to establish the foundation and a solid link for enhanced collaboration between the AU and the African diaspora, particularly on research on peace, security and development in Africa. 2/2

Had the honor to lead the PSC Troika to meet with H.E. Philemon Yang, President of the UNGA UN GA President to discuss the implementation of the pact of the future and the cooperation between the #AU and the #UN

Had the pleasure of chairing the AUPSC meeting on countering terrorism. I highlighted the imp of a comprehensive preventive approach to address the root causes of terrorism as well as the need to fast track the operationalization of Malabo Decisions and Abuja Declaration (1/2)

I also emphasized the importance of prioritizing institution building efforts in line with 🇪🇬 Championship of PCRD in Africa (2/2).

Had the pleasure, as chair of the AU PSC, to participate in the 15th High-Level Retreat on the promotion of Peace, Security and Stability in Africa. My opening remarks stressed on the importance of enhancing tools of preventive diplomacy and mediation (1/3)

I also commended the role of AUC Chair Moussa Faki Mahamat for his commitment and efforts in peace and security in the continent & the Panel of the Wise and Special Reps of the AUC Chair in strengthening peace, security and stability in the cont. (2/3)
