On 17 Jan. 2023 I received an Interpol delegation led by the Executive Director of Police Services, Mr. Stephen Kavanagh. We discussed areas of cooperation and ongoing activities with ECOWAS.

In my interaction with Mr. Kavanagh, I emphasised the need for INTERPOL to work more closely with GIABA, the ECOWAS body leading the fight against money laundering and financing of terrorism in West Africa.

I reiterated the necessity for a win-win relationship and reciprocity between third parties and ECOWAS in joint efforts to combat transnational organized crime.

Today I received the Danish Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, H.E. Sune KROGSTRUP. We discussed areas of common interest and the Danish government support to ECOWAS.

I reiterated ECOWAS Management's vision of "ECOWAS of the People: Ensuring Peace and Prosperity for All" and the role of our strategic partners in achieving this laudable vision.

On 10 Feb. 2023 in Lagos, Nigeria, I opened the Retreat of my department, the ECOWAS Department of Political Affairs, Peace and Security.

The ECOWAS PAPS retreat is an opportunity for me and my colleagues to lead the reflection on our vision and mandate and re-engineer our focus in moving forward our department in leading effectively the ECOWAS Peace and Security agenda.
