Such a wonderful example from Rona Moss-Morris about developing efficacious interventions: developing CBT for IBS from a sound theoretical foundation, using RCT data to validate the underlying theory, including a health economics analysis and planning wide-reaching implementation!

Very interested to learn in an #openscience discussion today at @wcbct2 that studies published in the most high-ranking journals such as Science and Nature also happen to have the highest rates of irreproducibility!

Meta-analysis of #antidepressant RCTs found that placebo run-in (PRI) periods reduce the placebo and drug response, but not the drug-placebo difference. Use of PRI periods should cease in RCTs of depression, and urgently questioned in other fields ja.ma/3qqFSe8

My latest paper investigates the practice of placebo run-in periods in antidepressant RCTs - it's an important read for anybody conducting clinical trials! Louise Sharpe Prof Ben Colagiuri @PLASYDLab
