Today is World Day Against the Death Penalty. In 2024 Saudi Arabia carried out a record 345 executions. So far this year between January and June 2025, Saudi Arabia executed a total of 180 people. This is a startling high number.

Over the first nine months of 2025, recorded executions have significantly increased in countries such as Iran, Kuwait, Singapore, and the USA, already exceeding their respective totals for 2024. People have also been executed at a higher rate in Saudi Arabia.
