Delighted to have been awarded an HFSP (& EMBO) Long-Term Fellowships With Wickstrom-Lab at @MaxPlanckPress, we will decode and reconstitute the molecular logic of epigenetic mechanical memories in tissue regeneration (in vivo) 1/2 🗒️: hfsp.org/hfsp-news/fell…

Our findings reveal how chemo-mechanical environment cues such as changes in cell extracellular matrix stiffness affect not only the availability of epigenetic regulators but also the mechanosensitive binding of heterochromatin to the nuclear lamina.

Congratulations to my officemate @KaitlinMccreery and to Aki Stubb on this 💎 paper The work shows how the #nucleus acts as a “signal integrator” for mechano-chemical cues to control cell fate transitions 💥 #Mechanobiology A 🧵: 👇

Can we map gut inflammation with ultrasound? Yes, using probiotic biosensors! 🔊 Imagine drinking a "diagnostic yogurt" and getting an ultrasound instead of endoscopy or colonoscopy 😁. Congrats to Marjorie Buss and collaborators on this advance. doi.org/10.1101/2024.0…

💫NEW by jared toettcher Harry McNamara & co: synthetic ‘signal-recording’ gene circuits on mouse #gastruloids show that cell sorting rearranges patchy domains of Wnt activity into a single pole that defines the anterior–posterior axis. 👉🏼rdcu.be/dVTQc nature.com/articles/s4155…

Thrilled to share our new work bioRxiv: biorxiv.org/content/10.110… Our Repli-Histo labeling marks nucleosomes in euchromatin and heterochromatin in live cells. We reveal genome chromatin is essentially replicated from regions with greater nucleosome motions. 1/2

1. mitochondrial dynamics is broadly regulated by external forces including cell geometry, crowding, stretching, and shear stresses. All conditions that reduce actomyosin tension lead to shortened mitochondria.

How does aging alter the translational landscape of stem cells and how do these changes impact their regenerative capacity? Here we developed an in vivo single-cell ribosome profiling strategy to monitor translational landscapes of the mouse skin. 1/6 biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

“Wet dog shakes”—a common reflex behavior shared among many hairy mammals and designed to expel water and irritants from their coats—happens when particular mechanoreceptors are activated, researchers studying mice report in Science. Learn more: bit.ly/3ZnmPCU
