Here is the America the Beautiful lesson from LISD 2nd grade curriculum in action Old Settlers ES! Students in another class were having an immersive experience listening to the song play softly as they worked! #SocialStudiesinLISD

2nd Graders Bluebonnet ES are excited about using Digital Word Sorts in Keynote! A fun and interactive way for students to sort, practice typing, and enhance their spelling skills! LISD Digital Learning


Ms. Penrod explicitly taught the letter name, sound, and letter formation for “y” Her students practiced air writing and then received feedback as they wrote in their workbooks. #foundationalskillsinLISD Parkway Elementary


Ms. Joiner introduced the poetry station! Students were engaged in reading the poem and working together to put it in order. A poetry station is a great way to build fluency! #LISDReads Parkway Elementary

First graders Wellington ES used decodable texts to practice foundational skills in context. They were successful in using their phonetic knowledge to decode unknown words! #LISDReads #LISDLandT #everyONE


Students Bridlewood ES were so proud of themselves as they practiced decoding and encoding. Teachers used Start Right Readers and lessons from the Foundational Skills & Word Study Studio. One student exclaimed, “I’m reading!”


2nd graders CreeksideCubs practiced encoding words with the VCe pattern on their word work boards linked in the curriculum before they used a connected text to read the words in context! #LISDReads #LISDLandT #FoundationalSkillsinLISD
