My favourite take-away from Michael Rosen ๐๐๐๐ NICE ็ท็ท English Association conference today was the invitation to open your head (&/or heart?) to a poem, instead of prising open the poem (often, with a curriculum-mandated crowbar). Gems to share with students English at Aston University 1/2

Poetry as a bridge between speaking & writing; as a scavenger of language; as portable ๐ผ. It reminded me of my first PhD student Daniel Xerri writing on metaphors for poetry in education. 2/2

Beautiful Conference English Association, the might of #poetry to give agency and voice to our children and young people. Michael Rosen ๐๐๐๐ NICE ็ท็ท honour to hear you speak and learn about the unique craft of oral writing, โhand on your life, feel the rhythm of time.โ #readingforpleasure

Highly recommend Martin Impey โBlitzโ for #KS2 and older, full of rich details, depicting the experience from the childโs POV and flooded with the brevity of emotion. Itโs an absolute gift for us all. Was so amazing to meet you Martin, truly inspiring work! #readingforpleasure

Bouncing off a carousel soon, Jeunesse: Young People, Texts, Cultures: Young People, Texts, Cultures 17.1 - Ponies; Alanis Morissette; first kisses; Blerds' comic & manga fan culture; YouTube read-alouds; & empowerment in the Ravens catalogue. Plus a peek at gendered YA Shakespeare ๐ง in my editorial.
