Our lab's paper on identifying the source and cause of morning sickness has just dropped. The culprit - GDF15, a protein hormone made in many organs. High levels in the plasma during pregnancy causes severe sickness in those women who have low normal levels.

Lovely to have supported this nature publication by using LC-MS to measure specific variants of GDF15 to elucidate its origin during pregnancy with Richard Kay - An extremely important study linking GDF15 to risk of hyperemesis gravidarum.
