Happy opening day to the Spirit of Invention exhibition Discovery Museum

Looking forward to a busy few weeks Discovery Museum in our upcoming weekly, EYFS Tiny Sparks sessions for little ones aged 3-5, and their carers. Last half-term we had fun exploring building and construction, floating and sinking, seasons and forces! #EYFSInMuseums

A couple of weeks ago our Easter holiday ‘Discover a Story’ EY sessions @Discovery_mus were very popular! We enjoyed reading Bird Builds a Nest, Mr Bunny’s Chocolate Factory and Ten Little Pirates with songs, games, crafts and play in the Great Hall #EYFSInMuseums

Our younger visitors made some cracking creations in the #LEGO city build event this week!

Last week for May half-term Discovery Museum we welcomed more than 400 people to play trains in our Great Hall. Giant tracks, ride on engines, colouring in, dressing up and trains galore! #MuseumPlay

My other favourite from half-term Discovery Museum - a Lego Newcastle United stadium! ⚽️ Newcastle-upon-Tyne was granted city status on 3rd June 1882, and last week, for the anniversary, families built a Lego city, designed buildings & created city coat of arms #LearningInMuseums

I visited a major museum on my ‘to visit’ list last week. @mfnberlin was incredible; dinosaurs, taxidermy, crystals & minerals. I found myself saying ‘wow’ in every gallery.
