1. I am delighted to be able to share our story on the enigmatic DISARM antiphage defence system, in collaboration with David Taylor, Cristian Aparicio-Maldonado, Franklin Nobrega and Stan Brouns biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Want to know more about how DISARM Class I targets mobile genetic elements? Read our latest publication, biorxiv.org/content/10.110…. Excellent work from our PhD Cristian Aparicio-Maldonado. Proud of you! Happy to welcoming you Biological Sciences in 2022. With Stan Brouns, Gal Ofir and Sorek Lab.

So happy to finally share this really interesting paper to finish the year. Disarm Class 1 characterization, work done with Franklin Nobrega and Stan Brouns. It results from a great collaboration with Sorek Lab Gal Ofir biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

We just updated our story about defence system synergism, biorxiv.org/content/10.110… . We teamed up with @Eugene_Koonin and Sofya Garushyants, and analysed >40,000 genomes to show that defence systems often non-randomly co-occur in bacterial genomes.

Very excited to release our Zorya anti-phage defense system preprint haidai HU et al. Zorya has a rotary molecular motor with a 700 Å (!) tail. Wonderful collaboration with SimonJackson, Marc Erhardt, Richard Berry,Nielsen Lab and Yong Wang bit.ly/474Wc6a #cryoEM

Excited to see our story on defence system synergy now out in Cell Host & Microbe! 👇 sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

Clinical strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa have accumulated phage defense systems in their genome matching their broad resistance to diverse phage families. Great work by Rita, Daan and Jelger. Ana Rita Costa, Daan F van den Berg science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

Excited to share our latest paper on new Eukaryotic-like bacteriophage defense systems. What great joint project by Daan F van den Berg, Ana Rita Costa and Jelger Esser combining the power of bioinformatics and experiments. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

See below our community resource led by fantastic Daniela Rothschild super proud! We hope this free resource of phages, strains, and their data, is useful to the phage-host research community. Comments and contributions are also welcome!
