Tomorrow, Albania will host the sixth European Political Community Summit. Thank you to Reuters for inviting me to comment on Albania's EU membership aspirations and the EU's geopolitical objectives in the Western Balkans. reuters.com/world/europe/s…

Andi Hoxhaj OBE (@andi_hoxhaj) 's Twitter Profile Photo

I've seen a number of journalists and politicians label it embarrassing and surprised. Starmer is the first British prime minister to visit Albania on official visit since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1921, and you expect Albania to simply accept it?

Andi Hoxhaj OBE (@andi_hoxhaj) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Why didn't Albania agree on a migrant hub? I spoke to Tamara Cohen and in short: the UK established diplomatic ties in 1921 and it was the first time a British premier formally visited, and it does not have the influence that it thinks it does in the Balkans. news.sky.com/story/an-embar…

Times Radio (@timesradio) 's Twitter Profile Photo

“I don't know how on earth one would think that if you go to a country for the first time ever, you want to get a return hub?" There was “a bit of an arrogance” about Keir Starmer expecting a deal on return hubs with Albania, says law professor Andi Hoxhaj OBE.

Thank you to Times Radio for inviting me to share some thoughts on Sir Keir Starmer's visit to Albania and why Albania snubbed the UK’s proposal for a return migration hub. I'll be publishing later a detailed explanation article in The Conversation.
