From Middlebury College's administration, news that one of the giants of Middlebury Economics's history has died: "We write to share the news that our friend and former colleague David Colander, the Christian A. Johnson Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Economics, died earlier this month. "

I could not be prouder of Mohamed A. Hussein, who’ll be joining Columbia Business School as an AP. He took 7 courses with me at Midd and taught me a ton along the way. None of us Middlebury Economics are the least bit surprised by his rising superstardom. Congrats, Mohamed!

In the election post-mortem and the conversation about economic dissatisfaction, I'll throw in one interesting observation from my work (w/ Oleg Korenok ). Attention to inflation has been much slower to return to pre-pandemic levels relative to actual inflation.
