Contrary to the baseless accusations circulated by the Russian Delegation, the #SOFI2025 report clearly identifies global conflicts—including Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine—as key drivers of food insecurity worldwide.

By destroying one-fifth of the arable land of one of the world’s largest agricultural producers, bombing the Kakhovka dam, and targeting grain transport vessels, Russia has shown its utter disdain for food security and sustainable development.

Meanwhile, EU sanctions have consistently exempted food and fertilizers, ensuring the continued functioning of global food systems.
