It’s a seasonal challenge: when is it ok to eat the first mince pie (I know it doesn’t compare to global warming and world peace!), I’ve been on the road a lot this week so a quality, warm mince pie could not be resisted. Ticked that one off the list!

A very frosty start at Crewe station this morning as I head down to Coventry for the penultimate Advisory Board of 2024. Grateful for all train staff this morning particularly those who’ve had to work on unfreezing points!

It’s been a fortnight of “lasts” as I made my last trip to ⁦Department for Education⁩ in Westminster yesterday to meet and say goodbye to my wonderful Regions Group Directors. One of the most remarkable teams I’ve ever been privileged to be part of. Thank you!

Last call; last email read and answered; kit all handed in. It has been a wonderful privilege to serve in ⁦Department for Education⁩ and alongside my ⁦Regions Group West Midlands Office⁩ colleagues. What a great team to be a part of! Time is now up, the next adventure awaits. Over and out!

After 40yrs in education, today marks the 1st day of “retirement”. Given my love/less-love relationship with West Coast Main Line trains, it feels serendipitous to be starting this new chapter far away from trains. 3 month break and then I’ll be taking up 2 trust chair roles.

First “outing” to Crewe station since my retirement. Different weather and a more civilised hour make all the difference. #LivingTheDream
