Born on this day - Joseph Black (16 April 1728 - 6 December 1799) Alumnus & Professor of Anatomy and Chemistry University of Glasgow Known for his discoveries of Magnesium, Latent heat, Specific heat and Carbon dioxide. Our Chemistry building is named for him.


Congrats to Lachlan Waddell, Juwon Okunade, Amy Dodds and Michael Lok (University of Glasgow Chemistry) for their work on iron-catalysed thioarylation using saccharin reagents published today in J Org Chem/Org Lett. A great collaboration with Nisha Khanizeman at GSK. pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acā¦
