It is far too easy for someone to decide to confine a patient in their hospital bed. The results can be catastrophic for older people. This needs to be a shared decision, considering the risks, and should need 2 health professionals to sign it off. "Bedrest" is not a thing.

I cannot believe we are still doing studies like this. Patients in ICU with a median age of 70 got 8mg daily of haloperidol - a massive dose. We know this is the wrong approach. No mention of what was done to address causes of delirium (1/2)
