It's January in the subarctic. 5°C, rained yesterday, snow's melting. Everything is fine. Right? Right?

Polar stratospheric clouds for several days in a row now here in the subarctic. They are almost unbelievably beautiful but also linked to the destruction of the ozone layer.

Another day with polar stratospheric clouds covering the skies here in Kiruna. Warm and windy.

Can't believe it's been five years. I miss my boy.

The Milky Way, Venus, Pleiades, Andromeda Galaxy, aurora, airglow, the Zodiacal light and an Iridium flare. All above a lonesome boat on a cold winter night in Kiruna, Sweden. Look up, there's SO much to see. SO much to learn. It never gets boring.

Sometimes it feels like it will reach the ground. Moving rapidly above you, shooting out spikes of colorful light. Deadly silent ferocious dance in the night sky. Sometimes it's eerie, almost frightening. Almost.

You sure feel tiny under a show like this. When an auroral corona spreads out across the whole sky. Amazing sight. 🌌

When you look up and the universe is smiling back at you.

I once tried and failed to climb that peak. I prefer looking at it from afar with this backdrop anyway.
