This week I tabled an Early Day Motion congratulating Irish Community Services on their 40th anniversary. I had the pleasure of working with them for my Coffee & Advice Drop-Ins & saw for myself the difference they make to the lives of my constituents in #Bexleyheath & #Crayford. 1/2 🧵

Heaney's poem 'Good-night' feels particularly relevant on these wintry nights. The poem is a celebration of the silent understanding between his parents as his father enters the comfort and warmth of the family home and his mother removes the only source of light for them both.

The treatment of Glioblastoma brain tumours hasn’t progressed for over 20 years. Our medical institutions are far too happy to continue with the status quo. I hope the Rare Cancers Bill will be the first step towards bringing the change that’s needed.

My understanding is that 16 is the statistically significant number for a Stage 1 trial. We have raised all the money for the trial including the drugs through donations, raffles, tombola’s, marathon running, cream tea making and holding a dinner. It’s not cheap!

As a young child I remember visiting a former Japanese PoW who was bedridden in Bexley Road, Northumberland Heath, with my grandmother who a volunteer with the Red Cross in our area. I will never forget. There was a key on a piece of string through the letter box to let us in.

Thanks to IKEA UK for confirming there is now a changing bed in their Changing Places UK toilet in its Oxford Street branch. This is a significant step finally providing a Changing Places toilet in Oxford Street given the gap between Trafalgar Square & Euston Road without one.
