Such a pleasure working with this team on 👇NIHR Children and Families Policy Research Unit project. Key take away for me is that giving advice on safer sleep, however clear, is unlikely to be enough. Frank conversations about infant care practices in the family are likely needed. Skilled work.

Excellent piece on how safe sleep advice should be discussed with parents, meaningful,non-judgmental and explorative conversations should be a priority for professionals.

Today's Office for National Statistics (ONS) stats show the devastating impacts of extreme poverty and deprivation on children's life chances. The mortality rate for infants living in the most deprived areas in England was almost 3x higher than in the least deprived. ❌ This is not okay.

These figures show the impact of systemic injustices for the life chances of many, with outcomes much worse for some ethnic minority groups in particular. 🗣️ Good housing, secure employment and being able to afford the essentials are the building blocks of health for everyone.

England haven’t been convincing so far, but without players born outside the UK or with at least 1 parent or grandparent born abroad, we wouldn’t still be here. And today, we’d be down to just 3 players. #ENGSWI #ThreeLions
