Today is International Day of Women & Girls in Science #WomenScienceDay. Lets fix this #Leakypipeline cause 10% female professors in biology in my local environment is not OK⬇️, especially when females dominate at entry level. And lets not wait 50 years for this to happen ⬇️

We've had the first snow which means Christmas is nearly here🎄🎅But we are celebrating differently this year with a lab quiz thanks to our wonderful postdoc Jana JanaSlyskova. So from our lab to yours, we wish you a restful Christmas and may 2021 be all that 2020 was not!

Today is #WorldCancerDay and we are committed to knowing how DNA damage is repaired to prevent cancer and how we can develop new chemotherapeutics. But this day is about the brave patients who are fighting this disease day in day out #IAmAndIWill MedUni Wien

Today we celebrate #WomenInScience, in our lab and across the world. Over the last year we have lived through trying times - not only a pandemic but the lab moved institute. Yet these strong women are still smiling. It's amazing to work with you all 👩🏽‍🔬🧪🧫🧬🔬 Women in Science Day

6/6 These findings highlight how important it is to understand the #DNArepair mechanisms that underlie #genomeediting technologies. This work was led by two brilliant and talented scientisits Joana Ferreira da Silva & Goncalo Oliveira, in collaboration with Josef Jiricny

#CRISPR Here we shown that instead of being required for prime editing, the DNA repair pathway Mismatch Repair (MMR) attenuates it. So in the absence of MMR, efficiency and fidelity of prime editing are enhanced 🧬
