Today data we gathered with Tom Wall on the use of unregistered homes for children in care has been published. It shows that more than 700 children were placed in unregistered accommodation, at a cost of more than £100m, and 2 in 3 children living there are under 16. 1/4

These are children we know nothing about. The number of children living in unregistered accommodation has increased by 277% in the last three years. It is extremely worrying that our most vulnerable children are living in places without any independent oversight. 2/4
