Amazing to see history made in Parliament today. Debate on a bill to close loopholes in the Crimes Act preventing Female Genital Mutilation has been agreed. It is in the name of four women representing National, Labour, Greens and NZ First, for the first time in NZ.

I am more concerned that Shane Jones is reported to have called the farmers gathered at Parliament ‘immigrants’! Aren’t we celebrating Tuia 250 by honouring and acknowledging both Maori and European migrations?

A National- led Govt increased the benefit by $25 a week, the first increase in 43 years!

Always difficult to lose such dedicated officers who are working to keep their communities safe. Our thoughts are with their families and colleagues.

With my family this morning at the end of the driveway standing at dawn for Anzac Day. We want our kids to grow up understanding how important it is to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our way of life. We will remember them.

There is nothing ‘kind’ about keeping this woman from being with her dying father!

I cannot believe this budget borrows against my grandchildren’s future to fund pet projects - it is too damn serious for nonsense like funding evening classes in Basket Weaving and Gardening in the Wind!

Interesting comments on community education - it’s alive and well, it’s just not funded by the taxpayers!

I worry that having got rid of any measurements of effectiveness this Government is now back to counting success by how much money they spend!
