An evening T20 at the gorgeous Exmouth Cricket Club between Devon & Somerset Cricket - mixed loyalties & long shadows, beer & burgers & catches in the deep. Devon failed to chase Somerset’s 173.

Today I chatted to a young couple with their tiny baby doing a tour of the county grounds in our crowd of over 2,000. Surrey had the largest crowd this century of well over 6,000. County cricket in its present guise is having a resurgence & is popular as it is. DON’T CHANGE IT

It was a great game of championship cricket - Sussex Cricket battled really hard & Somerset Cricket won in a tense third day. This & TWO THINGS highlighted what county cricket means to me - a presentation for Van der Merwe for his loyal service & a family playing on the outfield❤️

We have been blessed with good weather this year and seen some t9p quality hard fought cricket. County cricket really is a wonderful thing and we all need to fight its continued marginalisation.
