Donald Dewar was a real inspiration for many and the best constituency representative I have ever met. I treasure a copy of the Scotland Act that he signed for me. He delivered the referendum within 5 months of the election and the parliament just two years later.

Today is the 20th anniversary of Donald Dewar's death. He made it his life's work to turn the dream of devolution into a reality. His words at the opening of our Parliament two decades ago are as vital today in our mission to deliver social justice and a better nation.

Donald Dewar died 20 years ago today. His legacy lives on, and it is our duty to build upon it.

I never had the chance to meet Donald Dewar but I have many friends who knew him & tell me great stories about him. 20 years on he is still missed by them & the people of Glasgow Anniesland. Donald was the best of our movement, he never forgot the communities who elected him❤️🌹

20 years ago today, Scotland lost our first First Minister, and Glasgow Anniesland lost our first MSP. Donald was a great Leader for the country, but also a well-known face to the constituency. His loss is still felt so keenly by his community, his party and his country today.

On the anniversary of his death I wanted to share this photo of Donald Dewar at the opening of the Scottish Parliament. I got to spend some time with him that day and remember how obviously happy this usually reserved man was. A day of celebration that Donald deserved to enjoy.

Thanks to Dr Barry Black & James McEnaney we are now able to see how the SQA results fiasco impacted schools in Glasgow Anniesland. It’s clear that this was a system rigged against working class kids - how John Swinney could look at these results & think it was fair is beyond me.
