Had a useful site meeting with Network Rail today talking about the railways that criss cross the city centre. We discussed the remains of the old Roman Fort’s eastern wall, tucked away in Castlefield.

Out and about today with some helpers, talking to city centre residents about how Manchester Labour 🐝 is building more affordable housing, investing in cleaner streets, and how the government is advancing renters and leaseholders’ rights 🏡 🏗️ 🏘️

For residents evacuated from neighbouring buildings to the Hotspur press fire, the refuge centre is the Holiday Inn, Oxford rd. Manchester City Council are working with partner agencies to understand potential impacts to surrounding area including the river Medlock.

Hotspur press fire update: Deansgate Labour cllrs have had confirmation that air quality is safe after overnight monitoring. We are now co-ordinating with our Neighbourhoods team to support clean ups in impacted areas outside of the cordon.

The heartbreaking moment when you or your family member gets the devastating news of terminal illness, the last thing you need is to worry about money & bills. So we are exempting people their families from council tax. Thanks to Marie Curie for championing ending poverty.

I attended the LGC net zero conference to hear how LAs and partner organisations are driving towards net zero. Tom Stannard gave an update on Manchester City Council targets & how we supporting the wider city to decarbonise. Good to see lots of collaboration and support between LAs

Happy to see this partnership between Manchester City Council, Canal & River Trust and land owners, continuing to battle the blight that is graffiti. A big thank you to MCC City Centre officers for the efforts and creative approach to tackling a complex issue

The Viaduct is an asset for residents and communities across the city centre. It’s great to see funding is secured for its extension including funding support from Manchester City Council. Excited to see how the Viaduct will continue to grow
