NEWS: The College Football Playoff will move to straight seeding for this upcoming 2025 season, The Athletic has learned. Unanimous approval. No more auto-byes for top four conference champs, but those four still expected to get extra $. The CFP format for 2026 is still TBD.






Source confirms to The Athletic that all five departing Mountain West schools yesterday filed their intent to leave the conference, and only those five. Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State, Utah State, who are headed to the Pac-12 in 2026.
