Wow look at the speed. This is a Northern Water Snake, for some of you who have a cottage this may be familiar. What's cool about these is unlike most reptiles, they don’t lay eggs; instead, they give birth to live young. Snakes r so important as they help maintain biodiversity.

Not “local” per say … but The Toronto Zoo today I was absolutely mesmerized by these seahorses. They’re the slowest-moving fish in the sea, but that’s their superpower. Along with special skin cells that let them camouflage they move so quietly they are stealthy predators.
