We have nothing to be afraid of in confession. Tell the Lord that you love him, and say how long it’s been since your last confession. Confess your sins honestly and with humility. Most importantly: have true sorrow in your heart and the intention to not commit these sins again.

We know that Jesus Christ suffered and died for our sins. This week, the week of our redemption, we want to move from just knowing this, to feeling this. We want to allow his sufferings to speak to us, to move our hardened hearts.

On this road that we are walking during this holy week, we are witnessing the mystery of Our Lord’s love for us — a love we cannot imagine, a love so deep that he dies for us on the cross.

Jesus Christ paid a price for us that we could never pay. The Son of God made himself a slave to set us free, to give us “the glorious liberty of the children of God."

We need to follow in Jesus’ footsteps this week. We have seen what his love looks like. Let us open our hearts and show him what our love looks like. Let us make a new resolution this week to love Jesus Christ and to live as children of God.

In these next three days, Jesus will win salvation for us. In suffering and dying, he will destroy sin and death. In rising, he will restore our ability to walk in the newness of life.

Jesus turned his death on the cross into a prayer — a sacrifice of thanksgiving offered for us. He became our Passover lamb. His blood became the sign of our salvation.
