🎂On April 12, 1929, President Herbert Hoover turned 1,920 acres in The Windows and 2,600 acres in Devils Garden into Arches National Monument. We've been here for 96 years! (The arches are much older.) We hope you help preserve Arches for years to come. 📷NPS photo/Jacob Frank

⚠️The flagging is back! ⚠️ After being accidentally removed by a hiker, the park has replaced our temporary biodegradable flagging along the Devils Garden Primitive Loop Trail. Please leave this flagging in place while our teams use it to improve signage on this trail.

Big thanks to #SierraClub volunteers who removed 1000s of invasive tumbleweeds from Arches' boundary fence. Tackling this thorny task means that pronghorn—who, though fast, don't jump—now have free passage into/out of Arches' backcountry. That's a big win for park wildlife!

Are you headed to Arches this holiday weekend? Pack some extra patience with your sun hat and reusable water bottles (and your timed entry ticket!), because the park will be *extra* busy (long lines, crowded parking). See the full news release at: nps.gov/arch/learn/new…

🎥Do you recognize me? I am “Double Arch” in Arches National Park! On this day in 1989, I appeared in the opening scene of Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade. Arches National Park is a great backdrop for either the silver screen or a family vacation, and we hope to see you soon!

What do these arches look like to you? While they are officially known as "Twin Arch," visitors also refer to this formation as "Skull Arch" or "Donkey Kong Arch," depending on what shapes they see in the rocks. We would love to know what you see—what would you call it?

🦇"The batty bat cried out in fright, 'Turn on the dark! I'm afraid of the light!" -- Shel Silverstein Scientists monitor the health of bats in the park. Bats play important roles, like pollinating plants & dispersing seeds, and they eat A LOT of mosquitoes🦟 and other insects.

Tomorrow, August 4th, is a Fee-Free Day to commemorate the anniversary of the Great American Outdoors Act.⛰️🌲GAOA invested 💰in deferred park projects. On Fee-Free days, you do not need to pay the park entrance fee, but other types of fees (camping, tours, permits) still apply.
