🔎🧠 Check out our study that reveals widespread FDG-PET brain hypometabolism in adults with Down syndrome, even in the asymptomatic stage. Metabolism decline follows the AD continuum and correlates with CSF NfL 👉 onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.10… #Alzheimer #DownSyndrome #Neuroimaging

🚨Paper alert! Neurology Journal by Eleni Palpatzis What stressors might be more relevant in Alzheimer's? Partner's death was associated with amyloid & tau. Unemployment & economic loss with lower brain volume. Prevalence & impact differed by gender & education pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40163795/

Just out! 🧠 Our latest study shows how stressors like grief and economic hardship link to AD-related outcomes —with differences by gender and education.

📢 Paper alert! Our new longitudinal PET & MRI study just came out in Neurology with an editorial — exploring how sex and parent’s sex impact Alzheimer’s pathology. Neurology Journal 🔗doi.org/10.1212/WNL.00… Huge thanks to collaborators, sponsors & my amazing mentor Sylvia Villeneuve

Can MRI detect early signs of Alzheimer’s in people with Down syndrome? Our study found changes in the medial temporal lobe (MTL) over a decade before symptoms appear. A key step to better understanding the disease 1/4🧵

🚨 New study by Müge Akıncı: we found that increasing physical activity over 4 years in midlife & new adherence to the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines was linked to lower amyloid burden. Sustained sedentarism was linked to cortical thinning.🏃🏾‍♀️🧠 #Alzheimer #BrainHealth alz-journals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/al…

At #AAIC25, Pablo Aguilar presented data showing that the link between neighborhood deprivation and cognition/Alzheimer’s pathology differs by sex, race/ethnicity, and APOE4 status in U.S.Pointer. Important insights into how social determinants intersect with biology.
