For over 60 years Scotland has built a proud nuclear heritage, delivering not just clean energy but well-paid jobs. But as things stand this is all set to end in 5 years time: right now any new nuclear power station or small modular reactor is BANNED in Scotland! ๐Ÿงต

Why is housing in Hong Kong so expensive? Itโ€™s not because theyโ€™ve run out of space. Hong Kong has 49ย kmยฒ of farmland. But only 7ย kmยฒ is actually farmed. The rest lies fallow. The answer? Bad policy. ๐Ÿงต

I donโ€™t even know what to say about the immigration white paper. I feel sick. I feel defeated. I cannot recommend the UK as a place to live any longer when even Labour will pull the rug out from under you like this.

Weโ€™re going to record audio versions of Works in Progress articles and weโ€™re looking to hire a voice actor to do it for us. Ideally we would like someone with a Scottish or Irish accent, and a deep voice if male, but don't let that dissuade you if you're different. The most

One principle makes nuclear power unaffordable. Thatโ€™s Linear No Threshold: the theory that there is no safe level of radiation. It's wrong. But on Friday, the US President signed an executive order to reconsider it. ๐Ÿงต worksinprogress.co/issue/the-bad-โ€ฆ

Adults warned me that the internet is forever but actually the archive is incomplete and my teenage blog has gone. :( I donโ€™t think anyone would have held the silly ramblings of a woke, hubristic teenager against me. And now, when Iโ€™d like to read it nostalgically, I canโ€™t.

The latest and GREATEST issue of Works in Progress. I can't pick favourites among my articles, but the pieces on through running and on land readjustment in Japan have made an enormous impact on my thinking about cities.

This is why itโ€™s important to maintain a norm that mothers with young children work. Taking 2 years out is probably manageable. 4/6/8 years probably means losing your chances of professional success forever and means only rich and highly motivated will have 3+ children
