Australia is pretty much one giant sand pit. No surprise then that lots of critters have shovel-like adaptations to dig out a living beneath the soil surface. Take for instance the narrow-banded shovel-nosed snake (Brachyurophis fasciolatus) which can teleport into soil with ease
