Function rocks the #microbiome. Leyuan Li et al. showed that functional redundancy, i.e. proteins, is key to the #gut microbiome. Changes in functional redundancy due to diseases or xenobiotics can occurs without changes in microbiome composition. rdcu.be/debPX
