On July 20th, the U.S. Army’s CIO, Mr. Garciga, said the Army’s directive to automate and use low code/no code tools is accelerating its data-driven, AI-enabled transformation, with over 19,000 users in the Army’s enterprise AI workspace experimenting with large language models.

NGC2 focuses on achieving “decision dominance”, by leveraging AI to rapidly process and analyze battlefield data. NGC2 introduces agile, software-based architectures to integrate info across warfighting functions. The Army is working on a prototype to scale NGC2 to the 4th ID.

The 80th anniversary of V-J Day, commemorated on August 15, marks eight decades since the surrender of Imperial Japan to Allied forces in 1945. On this day, we honor the sacrifices of those who endured the war. Japan formally signed documents of surrender on September 2, 1945.

National Airborne Day (AUG 16), honors the bravery and contributions of the military’s airborne forces. This date commemorates the first official Army parachute jump in 1940 at Fort Benning, GA, which validated the idea of deploying combat troops by parachute behind enemy lines.

During his closing keynote address at the TechNet Augusta conference, LTG Rey spoke about how the Army is accelerating implementation of its Next Generation Command and Control plan, aiming to replace the network’s transport and infrastructure layers within 30 months. #NGC2

“In all of our training and...future planning, we have to understand that the EMS is not going to be uncontested,” said Maj. Godbolt, instructor at the Army Cyber School. The Army is accelerating the fielding of EW equipment through smaller, commercially available purchases.

The Army must train in denied, degraded, intermittent, and limited bandwidth environments, said LTG Barrett. “DDIL has to be planned for. You train like you fight. So, every experimentation, every CTC rotation, every Warfighter, we need to be inserting real world scenarios.”

Today is #PatriotDay, a solemn day of remembrance for the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001. It is also a time to honor the bravery of first responders who ran toward danger and the resilience of a nation that stood united in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

“Telling combatant commanders about a 10-year modernization vision is unsatisfying,” said LTG Stanton, commander of DCDC. “Combatant commanders need a capability today, and it needs to be improved tomorrow, and it better be exponentially improved the day after that.”

“We're going to fight alongside...partners that we know will be part of the coalition...but...you don't know...who will make up the coalition ahead of time,” said LTG Stanton. "So, the OE...must be structured, organized...and capable of incorporating partners from all over.”

Recently, the 21st Theater Signal Brigade hosted an Officer Leader Professional Development session attended by LTG Rey. They discussed the ongoing modernization of the Army’s C2 systems. The brigade also hosted the Razor Ball. LTG Rey delivered the keynote address.

“The next war may not be kinetic only,” said LTG Rey at TechNet Augusta. He explained that future battles could include cyber-attacks, autonomous drones, electronic warfare and artificial intelligence-driven decision-making. This requires modernizing the network and C2 systems.

National #POW/MIA Recognition Day honors American service members who were Prisoners of War or are still Missing in Action. As of 2024, over 83,000 service members remain unaccounted for, primarily from WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.

On SEP 5th, the 11th Signal Brigade hosted a Senior Officer Leader Professional Development session. LTG Rey attended and discussed the modernization of the Army’s C2 systems. The brigade also hosted a Signal Corps Ball. In his keynote, Rey highlighted the Signal Corps’ legacy.

During his TechNet Augusta address, LTG Rey emphasized the need to prevent data overload for commanders. The NGC2 system addresses this by leveraging AI to transform raw data into actionable insights, ensuring commanders receive only relevant, timely, and trustworthy information.

Georgia Army National Guard’s 111th EW Company is advancing Army modernization in the electromagnetic spectrum. During its training exercise, Operation Golden Corridor, the unit honed skills in spectrum mapping, radio frequency detection, & radar awareness under hard conditions.

On SEP 19, SGM Brady delivered the keynote address at the annual Shadow Ball, hosted by the 112th Signal Battalion. Brady remarked, “It’s crazy to think that a little over a decade ago I was your sergeant major.” On SEP 18, Brady was inducted into the Shadow Warrior Hall of Fame.

On September 16, LTG Rey met with BG Seung-Ha Yoo, the Commander of Defense Communication Command for the Republic of Korea, to enhance interoperability between the two countries’ armies. Cooperation among the U.S. and coalition partners is important for security in East Asia.
