Last week Guild members attended the first Master's Outing of the year - a tour of murals and stained glass. We visited the Chagall stained glass at All Saint's, John Ward's murals at Challock Church, the Edward Ardizzone Mural at St Jude's Shrine and the Evelyn Dunbar Murals.

Creative Connections participant, Francesca Miotti, is a London-based artist who has embraced hand-weaving as her main medium, being drawn by its connection to women’s domesticity and notions of self-sufficiency. See Francesca's work at our exhibition on Saturday 21 September.

We very much enjoyed having @anncarringtonart at the Guild for our first talk after the summer break! Ann sculpts fantastical metal sculptures from found and discarded objects. Her pieces often take the form of bouquets, vases, and oversized busts.

Last week, Jiro Osuga visited the Guild to give a talk to our members. Jiro paints anything that he experiences, from airport terminals to snails. He is often the protagonist in his own work, acting out with gentle self-deprecation the tragicomedy of an artist’s life.

We were lucky enough to have Jazmine Miles-Long talk at the Guild recently! Through revealing the skilled processes involved in creating taxidermy, Jazmine showed how this misunderstood craft is not only useful for science, but that it can show the beauty of living things.
