Hot off the heels of #InternationalDayofWomenandGirlsinScience day we’ve got a cool one for ya! #LiveLaughLeanMass with my girl AB!!! Ashley Buck

Featured Research: Body Composition, Not Body Mass Index, Is Associated with Clinical Outcomes Following ACL Reconstruction pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39929144/ Ashley Buck

📢 New research challenges BMI as a predictor of ACL recovery. Instead, body composition better correlates with strength & function. 🔬 DXA showed: ✅ ⬆️ lean mass → Stronger quads, better mobility ❌ ⬆️ fat mass → Worse knee pain & performance 📉 BMI? No association.

đź’ˇ Key takeaway: ACL rehab should focus on body composition, not BMI, to optimize long-term outcomes. đź“– Study: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39929144/ Great work Ashley Buck from MOTION Science @ UNC !!

Shoutout to Ashley Buck, Co-Leader of the OA Action Alliance Weight Management task group, for her poster presentation at the OARSI World Congress on Osteoarthritis! OARSI UNC TARC #OARSI2025 #osteoarthritis

Thanks to OARSI, OA Action Alliance, UNC TARC, and all of the researchers and clinicians from across the globe, who are working hard to advance the science of #osteoarthritis prevention, detection and treatment!! UNC School of Medicine UNC Department of Medicine

We were excited to host Brian Pietrosimone and members of his lab as part of a collaborative research project!
