In the last month there have been at least 3 (nonsense) papers on the Hodge conjecture posted to arXiv that I am 99% sure are LLM-generated, complete with hallucinated citations, etc. Very obnoxious to pollute the commons this way.

Joseph Garvin The issue is not just citations, though this is strong evidence the papers are LLM-generated; the math is also nonsense. Automatically checking citations would probably be doable-ish but add some friction for authors (eg if they want to cite some non-traditional source.)

On STS-80 the space shuttle tracked a flying saucer in orbit, carefully maneuvered close to it to grab the spacecraft, which was flying at Mach 25, with its manipulator arm. It stowed the disc shaped spacecraft in the payload bay & returned it to earth for scientists to study.

Russian media posts stories. Not a single world from NASA or NASA Acting Administrator Sean Duffy. So much for transparency. Or is the Administration up to something that prompts the Russians to say nice things? "Russia and U.S. Agree to Extend International Space Station Operations to 2028"

Surrounded by the harshest environment imaginable, this is an incredible view of the small town that humans have inhabited for nearly a quarter of a century...A very small stepping stone on a much grander adventure.

Improved estimate of NASA Juno's remaining prop: 785 kg after orbit insertion, at least 77 kg used in burns on 2016 Oct 25 and 2019 Sep 30, so less than 708 kg remaining corresponding to delta -V < 3226 ln((1593+708)/1593) = 1.19 km/s even if the main engine was working right
