Now published: our ERS publications article on the highlights of ERS Assembly 3 at ERS 2023. Thanks a lot to Sara Cuevas Ocaña for leading this - I'm already looking forward to ERS 2024! openres.ersjournals.com/content/early/…

Current smoking reduces small airway eosinophil counts in COPD and controls. This provides evidence of an attenuation of T2 related inflammation in the small airways imposed by current smoking, which may affect ICS response. openres.ersjournals.com/content/early/… Medicines Evaluation Unit, an IQVIA business Immunology, Immunity to Infection, Respiratory Med

Modern physiological measurement techniques (respiratory oscillometry, multiple-breath nitrogen washout and functional imaging) are clinically useful in COPD, but how do we get them into routine practice? @SteveMilne1010 Katrina Tonga Rachel Eddy bit.ly/ERSM103

The pharmacological agents for stable COPD are LABA/LAMA or SITT. SABA/LAMA combination is safe and more effecctive that LABA or LAMA monotherapy. Adding ICS is effective in a subset, particularly those with high blood eosinophil counts. Lies Lahousse bit.ly/ERSM103

A greater understanding of COPD patients and the molecular drivers behind their disease can facilitate new and better treatments. The focus need to be on precision medicine and early intervention to modify the disease course. Cara Flynn @Greening_COPD bit.ly/ERSM103
