The most important characteristics of organic agriculture include the prohibitive use of fertilisers and herbicides; a conscious cultivation of the vineyard, to naturally promote the health and fertility of the soil, and a respect for its natural cycle.

Beautiful Eisenberg: Possibly the most untouched wine landscape of Burgenland , producing wonderfully authentic reds, predominantly from BlaufrÀnkisch, along with vibrant and elegant whites and unique local speciality: the Uhudler.

The Thermenregion region was formed as part of the 1985 wine law, when the districts of Gumpoldskirchen & Bad Vöslau were joined. White varieties such as Zierfandler and Rotgipfler thrive here, alongside reds made from from Sankt Laurent and Pinot Noir. © ÖWM-Marcus Wiesner

The high quality #SanktLaurent variety belongs to the #Pinot family. This thin-skinned native variety is found mainly in the Thermenregion and in northern Burgenland. It can yield delicate and elegant red wines, but can also make delicious sparkling wine! © ÖWM / Armin Faber

Pannobile was founded in 1994 by 7 winemakers based in Gols, Burgenland. The name comes from 'Pannonia' (once a Roman province) and 'noble' (from ‘Nobile’). This group is dedicated to producing quality wines that do justice to this impressive terroir. © ÖWM-Marcus Wiesner

Weissburgunder AKA Pinot Blanc might have originated from Burgundy, but it's made a home for itself in Austria. It can be found in several regions, famously in Burgenland and Styria, and it's as versatile as it is delicious! © ÖWM / Armin Faber

We owe our complex wines to our complex geology: the highlands of the Waldviertel & MĂŒhlviertel regions form part of the Bohemian Massif in the north, followed by the hilly Alpine Foreland with great valleys and basins in the east, and finally the epic Alps! © ÖWM-Marcus Wiesner

Burgenland offers a variety of full-bodied red wines due to the influence of the hot, continental Pannonian climate. The Eisenberg, in the southernmost part, enjoys ideal growing conditions for BlaufrÀnkisch and other red wine varieties with mineral-driven character and elegance.

Traminer is one of the oldest European grape varieties, and is a parent of GrĂŒner Veltliner. It produces deliciously spicy, aromatic wines, either in sweet or dry styles. Super versatile and age-worthy, Austrian Traminer is well worth seeking out!

Austria's most significant white variety is the indigenous GrĂŒner Veltliner, which most probably derives from a crossing with Traminer. All quality levels are produced - from light, acidity-toned wines to the highly ripe PrĂ€dikat wines.
