Sam Knight's #writingtips for new authors: If you sell books at a convention/fair/whatever, most cities, counties, states require you pay sales taxes and maybe need a license. Look it up under special event sales tax in the local area before you do it.
Sam Knight's #writingtips for new authors: If you can't figure out marketing to KDP/Amazon, don't feel alone. There are entire careers dedicated to that, and Amazon constantly changes its model/algorithms to prevent people from figuring it out. Just do your best.

Sam Knight's #writingtips for new authors: There is not a lot of GOOD writing advice out there. There is mostly advice that works for some but not others. Don't hurt yourself forcing something that doesn't work for you. Try it then try something else. Do what works for you.
Sam Knight's #writingtips for new authors: Write what you know doesn't mean you have to write about school or trucking, it means pour your heartaches, love, desires, and passions into your stories. Maybe you'll teach the reader something about smelting along the way.
