Martin Lewis The government doesn’t need to raise money to fund itself. It creates Ā£ when it spends. Taxes do not fund the government. So there’s no need to cut spending. UK government can create as many Ā£ as needed to purchase anything for sale in Ā£. It can never run out or go bust. Ever.

Milton Friedman didn’t just shape modern capitalism. He gave corporations a moral license to gut the public and call it freedom. Watch the clip where he explains it all in his own words. x.com/TheRabbitHole8…

The Powell Memo was written in 1971 — which may have been the most important turning-point year in American history. Take a look at this link and prepare to have your mind blown. wtfhappenedin1971.com

ā€œWhat they've done to Gaza is f***ing insane. & if you can't see that, if you can't say that, your response is, Israel has the right to defend itself. Like, what are you talking about against what? Children?...ā€

It’s worrying that privatisation of childcare is being so conflated with #csa Child care should not be privatised. #csa is perpetrated in every single institution that gives access to children, private & public. This reality is hidden when privatisation is blamed.

I see a couple of Aussie journalists today worrying the US govt might be unable to repay its debts. Firstly, that is not the issue. Secondly, those journos need to take a proper econs course, ie ours. Then they would avoid writing nonsense.

Warren Mosler once said that a lack of understanding of the monetary system is the worst enemy of the progressive agenda. He was right. If we think the issue with Trump is the deficit, or argue wealth taxes will pay for stuff in the UK, we need to learn MMT or we will never win.

Neoclassical economics as an academic discipline is much more like an organized religion, with the unfortunate drawback that its practitioners think they are scientists, not priests reciting dogma.

ā€œThe public finances do not add upā€. Public finances haven’t added up for 400 years. How much longer are we going to have to suffer this pantomime neoliberal propaganda while kids starve, food banks grow and the BoE hands banks Ā£100 billion a year for being rich? #LearnMMT

Many can’t grasp poverty because they confuse natural scarcity with artificial scarcity. Scarcity exists in nature. Artificial scarcity is manufactured by capitalism to keep us trapped in the cycle, work, consume, repeat. It’s not a bug, it’s the system’s core feature.

Ah the old, ā€˜the govt is a household,’ line. The UK government is a currency creator, not a currency user… Financial markets are accommodated by the government, not the other way around.

How in the goddamn fuck do we live in a country where a fire in a synagogue sparks mass media and political hand-wringing but another Indigenous death in custody just prompts … crickets? #NewsCorpse
