#Syrian govnt invited #Assad’s security officers to surrender. Thousands disappeared in prison cells, the fate of many is unknown. I was also arrested & interrogated repeatedly. I went back 2 z security branch where I was investigated, looking for my files.

Something missed by most yesterday -- a senior UK Defense Ministry official, Charles Smith, traveled to #Damascus & met with #Syria's Defense Minister. #Syria state media said they discussed potential "support for rebuilding Syria’s armed forces."

Yesterday, a warehouse full of sophisticated IEDs was discovered outside #Qardaha in #Latakia. Nothing like this has been seen in use in #Syria since #Assad's fall, pointing to a significant increase in expertise in anti-gov't insurgency.
