Libby raises a good point about how things are felt Most of the tax cuts just extend current tax code so aren’t felt — avg household will feel a few hundred dollars better off, not a few thousand But tariffs are new — so avg household will actually feel a few thousand WORSE off

trump has a 29% approval on the budget, very low but makes sense given that he enacted a bill that took health insurance from 10 million & food away from millions while doing huge tax cuts, leaving the poor poorer and rich richer — simultaneously increasing deficits by trillions

To reporters following me: a “pocket rescission” is not a rescission. No law will have been passed paring back budgetary resources. It’s an impoundment, preventing budget authority from being obligated — even if Congress votes against the rescissions package. And it’s illegal.

REPORTER: Would you also direct agencies to study the impact [tariffs] would have on prices in the US? TRUMP: No. There's nothing to study. There’s nothing to study. It's gonna go well.

This is an illegal deferral under the Impoundment Control Act. It will also lead to deaths that could have otherwise been prevented with cures that would otherwise have been invented.

More and more presidents over time have released joke budget requests, intended to be dead on arrival. Not a huge loss given where this has been trending. I would just ask that the admin release *all* the important backup data, such as the Public Budget Database, the AP, etc.

It’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for….The Budget Lab’s final dynamic score of the OBBBA. TLDR: it’s still expensive, and will still slow growth, and will still raise interest rates…just even more than the House version 1/

real GDP is already running 0.4% below CBO's January 2025 pre-Trump projection, so the Trump effect so far has been in the wrong direction

Under pressure from White House, Smithsonian removes Trump from impeachment exhibit in American History Museum. Now the text reads that "only 3 presidents seriously faced removal," meaning A. Johnson, Nixon and Clinton -- not Trump. wapo.st/3HhfyxU

Not that it matters, but Trump is actually the only president to have bipartisan votes to impeach in the House & bipartisan votes to convict in the Senate. What actually matters is the president is pressuring the govt to rewrite history for him, which is fundamentally fascistic.
