We want to say a massive thank you to Cllr Ken Wood for an outstanding year as Lord Mayor of Birmingham. We know you'll do the City proud as Deputy Lord Mayor over the next year also. Congratulations to Cllr Zafar Iqbal on being elected Lord Mayor for the next year.

Labour's Cllr for Allens Cross has been absent for nearly 6 months. He turned up at the Council yesterday, signed in, but didn't even enter the chamber. Birmingham Labour are neglecting Allens Cross, but are happy to allow councillors to just sign in to earn a £20,000 allowance.

We're continuing our calls to move the bin lorries to alternate depot sites. By dispersing vehicles across the city, the Council could ensure that a partial service continues, as lawful picketing must occur in front of the striking worker's workplace. buff.ly/TNO2z7I

Labour have voted down an opposition "call-in" of the cabinet decision to impose fees on parking in the Lickey Hills, Sutton Park, & Sheldon Country Park despite residents concerns. Local Conservatives will continue to lead the campaign against parking charges.

So much for affordable bus fares... Labour's Mayor of the West Midlands has overseen inflation-busting price hikes of 30% on the cheapest fare available for your daily commute on a WM Bus over the last two years.

Labour is avoiding accountability in Allen’s Cross, leaving residents without proper representation due to their absent councillor. Instead of addressing the issue, they evade scrutiny. Birmingham deserves better representation, and we're ready to deliver it.

Addressing Britain's grooming gangs is challenging but necessary. That's why we're proposing a motion for a national inquiry at next week's Full Council meeting. This issue has been unaddressed for too long in Birmingham. We thank "Kate" and other survivors for their bravery.

Our motion today urges the Council to support the national inquiry into grooming gangs. Birmingham has been repeatedly mentioned by survivors, despite media focus on other areas. Anyone involved in this abuse must face justice.

Our motion was unanimously passed with cross-party support from all corners of the chamber. The Government must act now on the recommendations before them to bring an end to the scourge of grooming gangs across the country and ensure perpetrators and enablers face justice.
