We have been absolutely delighted that we have had 3 golden eagles from goldeneaglessouthofscotland.co.uk visiting the Tarras Valley over the last few weeks. This includes two new eagles called Wren and Thomas, and our very own Tarras who was named after the nature reserve.

Amazing work by Darwin Tree of Life on our Wild Heart sites, including their earliest invertebrate genome which came from a ringlet found at Carrifran Wildwood! Read more below👇

Great to see Charlotte from BuglifeScotland and our volunteers scattering locally sourced seed from Scotia Seeds around our wetland scrapes. The willow whips planted earlier this spring have taken off and we've also registered the site with BTO for WeBS surveys. It's all go!

Fantastic to explore the variety of woodland across Galloway on the annual RSFS tour. Good to hear about the management of Glentrool oakwoods SSSI from Forestry and Land Scotland and Former NatureScot account & visit the beautiful RSPB Scotland reserve at Wood of Cree. #forestry #gallowayforestpark

Great for pupils from Moffat Academy to see a pair of curlew on our monthly BTO wetland survey. The Scots for #curlew is 'whaup', also referring to a long-beaked goblin which carried off evil folk. Walter Scott called this goblin as a 'langnebbit thing'. 📷 C Patience #BFT

We're celebrating UN Environment Programme #WorldEnvironmentDay with this photo from @Tweedecology of natural regeneration at Corehead. Sheep were removed in 2017 and we are now witnessing the resurgence of trees and woodland plants. Ecological restoration in action. #worldenvironmentday2023
