Just to remind everyone & media; It’s been 47 days and counting since Resident Doctors invited Wes Streeting to negotiate. This is what happens when you refuse to negotiate👇🏼 Get in the room and table a credible inflation-indexed route to full pay restoration! #JoinStrikeWin ✊🏼

Llongyfarchiadau to colleagues in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 This is a clear result from members that shows doctors will continue to fight for pay restoration. Now the govt need to come back to the table and negotiate!

A result. Unfortunately, the threat of striking is the only thing the government understands when it comes to negotiating on pay. The ball is in Wes Streeting's court now. No longer in opposition, he has the ability to avert the strikes and show that he values the workforce.

Solidarity with English colleagues who voted YES to standing up for what you're worth, YES to rebuking the failing DDRB & YES to showing that we're resolute in achieving Full Pay Restoration In Scotland negotiations continue & BMA Scotland continue to hold Scottish Government to account 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

‘Doctors have spoken and spoken clearly: they won’t accept that they are worth a fifth less than they were in 2008.’ Resident Doctors co-chairs Dr Melissa Ryan 🦀 and Dr Ross Nieuwoudt react after resident doctors delivered a renewed mandate for strike action. Full story:

We’ve made it very clear to Wes Streeting that last year was only a first step towards #PayRestoration. @melissa_s_ryan speaks to Times Radio 👇

As co-chair of the BMA Resident Doctors Committee Dr Melissa Ryan 🦀 says, it’s entirely reasonable for a fully qualified doctor to move from £17.56/hr to £22.67/hr. These are the doctors caring for 100s of sick patients overnight. It’s time for Wes Streeting to pay drs fairly.

Incoming FY1s - your induction/shadowing to become a Dr are important, and your union The BMA know this. The message is simple: attend your induction/shadowing! (And fill out this to get ballot ready to join strikes when needed in the future: forms.office.com/e/WazxKAr4kK)

No doctor today is worth less than they were 17 years ago, as Dr Melissa Ryan 🦀 has told Newsnight. That’s why resident doctors in England have voted for industrial action. There’s still time for the Government to listen and avert the strikes.

"Our expectation was that the [22%] would be the start of a journey that would keep us going until we’d reached the value we had in 2008. So, clearly, the return of value has stopped and now it’s just marching on the spot. And we need to carry on that journey." BMA council chair

9 out of 10 doctors voted for IA if we need to. But we shouldn’t need to. 28.9% is misleading: - counts an uplift not yet received - much lost to inflation - the Tories gave almost half Reality: our pay is 21% down on 2008 levels. Let’s hope our talks are productive.
